I hate to be a party breaker here, but having been around for a long time, off and on, I know very well the treatment of mesmers in PvE (or lack of it). Why should I believe that these changes will make a mesmer playable on a level Ritualist is now, for example? As far as I'm concerned, these are all cosmetic changes, "look what mesmer can do now!", and in practice it's going to be underpowered still.
Well, with new Fast Casting and these skills redesigned, I just need to know one thing:
Will my mesmer need to continue with Assassin's Promise build designed to spam Ebon Assassin's, or will this skill balance give me *mesmer* build that is at least equally good to AP spammer one?
If not, don't waste your time and resources on this joke of skill balance, thanks. I understand the feel-good role of mesmers in PvE, where other classes no matter how underpowered they are, can always say: "But at least I'm not as bad as that mesmer!"

Maybe they're looking, or have looked, at the mobs' builds and reworking them? Call it wishful thinking...

Personally, i see the your pointand agree in the most part, do it properly or not at all....
but at this stage, id be happy with just some more skills to take on tier 2* builds..to break the monotony lol
i dont need for pugs to see me as a valid party option.personally the people i team with usually dont give a crap, cos guildies do that :P
gonna see what the end result of the skill changes brings before i decide if they were a waste of time or not.
*for me at least in my ranks..
Tier 1 been ap sin spam & fd
tier 2 vor, clums spam
tier 3 lol

I'm still rooting for an Elementalist update aswell, since Energy Storage is kind of crappy, same goes for an ele's damage output in HM (if taking an Ele-only build of course, no skills from other professions).

I speculate that anybody that hasn't vanquished areas with Roaring Ethers or Wind Riders will sh*bleep*t bricks if they try to after the update.

It seems that Anet is taking whole lot of work to keep mesmers in exact place they are now, instead making pvp/pve split and buff many mesmers skills, especially elites, that are rewriting FC and balancing mesmers skills around it, so my guess is, that mesmers will be still redundant in comparison to necros while loosing flexibility in the process, something that was a little bit satysfying and enjoyable when playing mesmers with conscious that other profession do things better. The net result will be: mesmers will still suck but when you slap the same bar od mesmers skills on mesmer and on necro, this time mesmer will come on top.

There aren't many build better then a AP caller with a discord team, for any class.

Often a balanced team is more effective (hence why Speed Clears don't use Discordway); however, in the past Mesmers have had few options for following the PvE curve - damage.
4-5 of them have been used with Esurge to do speed clears, but the downtime is just terrible, unless you're arcane echo'ing and arcane mimicry'ing.
They're going a bit overboard with the buffs, but some of the changes are very very nice.

Well, i think we are speaking about h/h, with a team of 8 people the ball and spike tactics win(of course, they still can reserve some support / timesaving slot like uw fowsc teams)
I noticed also that once the minion machine have gone in motion you really need only 4 guys to kill the trivial group, allowing your team to split if you are doing dual discord..

I vanquished Joko's Domain the other night with this train of thought. CoF + short recharge is going to be extremely annoying. If Joko's wasn't the toughest non-elite area in the game already, it's certainly going to be in a couple weeks(?).
By the by, are there any Mesmer super-groups in Factions? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

I speculate that the mesmer update has a 60% chance of happening before this christmas.

There are no such groups in Factions.
The mesmer henchmen will also be buffed. Just saying.
Also going to be a dervish update...

Even if they don't turn Mesmers into rape machines some kind of buff is better than nothing. I'm excited personally.

That area already is nasty with all the res' with the recent buff to the Paragons res shout.
As for the Mes possible updates, my guess, overbuff, then 2-3 nerfs to get them back in line, by christmas

For all those who are a little slow, I'll fill you in here. The entire mesmer update is basically a cover for nerfing this build.
